Celebrating Our Community: Congratulations to the Newly Ordained!

Over the weekend, during the Celebration of Ministry Service at the Bermuda-Nova Scotia Regional Council Annual Meeting, three incredible individuals connected to AST were formally ordained into the United Church of Canada.

Please join us in offering our warmest congratulations, blessings, and prayers to:

The Rev. Donna Kelly (AST ‘26)
The Rev. Ron Shaw (AST ‘26)
The Rev. Webster Vhembo, who completed his required United Church courses right here at AST for admission into the UCC from the Methodist Church of Zimbabwe.

We are incredibly proud of Donna, Ron, and Webster as they take this profound step in their ministry journeys.

📊 Is Gen Z really coming back to church?

In a recent feature for Broadview Magazine, Rev. Dr. David M. Csinos weighed in on the reported "quiet revival" among young adults and what it actually means for the landscape of Canadian faith.

Dr. Csinos noted that while some individuals are finding faith, Gen Z remains statistically the least religious generation in Canadian history, largely because many were not raised with a religious background.

The takeaway for community leaders? The active, intentional engagement of younger generations isn't just a trend to watch—it is vital to the long-term sustainability and longevity of these institutions.

The first day of the Hayes Symposium 2026 was meaningful.

It was a privilege to learn from Dr. Gloria Woodland as she guided us through Faithful Presence: Pastoral Ministry in the Context of MAiD, offering such thoughtful and practical insights on accompaniment.

Looking forward to another day of learning and reflection tomorrow!
