From sod and mud to pollinator habitat 🌼🐝
This Earth Day marked step one. We removed sod prepared the ground (📷 3), mixed a native wildflower blend from with sand (📷2), seeded (📷 1), and covered with straw across the Cameron Hall bank (📷 4) and a small garden behind the Killam. Before shown in 📷 5.
Under the pines by Cameron Hall, we also began prepping a future planting site using cardboard to suppress grass (📷6, before in 8)—another garden coming later this summer 🌱
This project centres sustainability and upcycling, from reused totes to DIY sod staples made from old hangers (📷7) ♻️
By next fall, these spaces will be transformed into pollinator-friendly habitats 🌿
Next up: Pollinator Week in June—stay tuned 👀
Big thanks to Environmental Services and all the volunteers who helped make this day possible 💚
And thank you to WWF Go Wild for supporting this project 💫
