We have crossed the finish line!!! 🎉🎉🎉

Thanks to the extraordinary support of donors, partners and community members, the $14 million fundraising goal for the Don Folk and Family Recreation and Wellness Centre has officially been reached!

Every gift helped make this new space possible. Now, students will have a place to move, recharge, connect and experience the sense of belonging that comes through sport.

This accomplishment belongs to our entire community. We're incredibly grateful to everyone who stepped up to make this vision a reality. ❤️

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we have officially reached the $14 million fundraising goal for the Don Folk and Family Recreation and Wellness Centre!

This fall, students will have access to a competition-size gymnasium, fitness suite and weight room, elevated indoor walking track, flexible fitness studios and seating for more than 700 spectators. It was created to build healthy bodies and minds, and forge friendships through sport that will last a lifetime.

To every donor, partner, volunteer, alum, business and community member who believed in this vision, thank you. Your support is helping build healthier bodies, stronger minds and a brighter future for our students and our community.

We're proud to see Okanagan College playing a key role in Kelowna's UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy journey, helping showcase our region's vibrant food culture, creative talent and tourism sector across Canada.

It's an example of the collaborative spirit that will be further strengthened through the future Centre for Food, Wine and Tourism.

Kelowna’s recent designation as Canada’s first UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy is creating new opportunities to showcase the Okanagan’s food culture and creative talent. Through a collaboration with London, Ontario — Canada’s only UNESCO Creative City in Music — local country artist Jonathan Williams will represent Kelowna at the Home County Music & Art Festival on July 24 and 25.

The partnership is one of the first collaborations stemming from Kelowna’s UNESCO designation and highlights opportunities for cultural exchange through UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network. Promotional materials associated with the festival will also feature information about Kelowna’s UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy designation, encouraging visitors to learn more about the Okanagan’s culinary culture, agricultural heritage, wineries, craft beverage producers and food experiences.

Okanagan College has played a key role in Kelowna’s City of Gastronomy journey, partnering with the City of Kelowna and Tourism Kelowna on the original UNESCO application and continuing to support the initiative through its involvement in the governance and implementation of the designation.

We're proud to share that Chef Ned Bell has been named a 2026 inductee to the BC Restaurant Hall of Fame by the BC Restaurant and Foodservices Association!

Chef Ned has often said that what we have here in the Okanagan is special, and as Creative Advisor for the Centre for Food, Wine and Tourism, he's helping transform that belief into an extraordinary learning experience for future generations.

Together with our donors and community partners, we're proud to be building a place where students can learn, create and lead.

This honour celebrates individuals whose passion, innovation and dedication have shaped British Columbia’s restaurant and hospitality industry and puts Chef Ned among a distinguished group of industry leaders.

We’re proud to be working alongside Chef Ned to help reimagine food experiences on our Kelowna campus. Through this partnership, he is helping create a bold new vision for an open-to-the-public restaurant, café and event venue that will integrate students into the experiential learning eco-system of the Centre for Food, Wine and Tourism when it opens in fall 2027.
