The History Departmental Student Council (DSC) acts as the official liaison between the Department and its students. It is responsible for organising social and academic events involving History students, overseeing the annual instructor evaluations (USAT), and serving as the official undergraduate representation at Department meetings.

We are looking for 300- to 500-word articles about interesting stories or topics in history. Submissions close on March 14th at midnight. Two runners-up will each receive a $25 Starbucks gift card. We want to see you imitate your favourite historical figure! Got a beard and flowing hair that rivals Rasputin? Perhaps a corset that would have Marie Antoinette gagging? This exam season, it is time to find the joy in history; either submit a photo of yourself, or you and your housemates to the History DSC between Wednesday March 24th until Friday April 3rd.

The winning photo will be featured on our blog, The Watson!

Please remember that this is a school event, and photos should be appropriate and thoughtful in their content.

Mark your calendars! The History DSC is holding two workshop sessions on Thursday, March 12. The sessions are from 10:30am-11:30am and 4:00pm-5:00pm EST. Both sessions will cover the same information for the first half which will be followed by a question period for the last half!

These workshops will be led by Upper Year DSC members. Join us to find out more information on how to access databases and secondary sources online, the difference between an article review and research paper, how to construct an effective thesis, and other useful tips on how to get the most out of your History courses!
