Hello everyone,

As you may have already heard, Western is rolling back to stage 3. This means that no in-person club activities are allowed on campus.

The executive team is working to adapt our plans to comply with the changing circumstances. We still hope to provide the technical, professional, and academic support that we have been working hard to put together for this year.

Further updates will be posted on our social media pages, including our first year representative application. In the meantime stay safe and we hope to meet you online.

Hello Everyone,

We hope your classes and exams finished well. As we still don’t have any real information as to when everything will start opening back up, we currently do not have any events planned for the summer; however, if members are interested in something then maybe we can find a way to do it online with you. It could be done as a video tutorial, live feed, conference chat, etc. If you do have any questions or inquiries about something you would like to learn more about, please send them to our email ([email protected]) so all the exec team can see them.

The only major item that the exec team is working on right now is trying to find the new exec for next year. Each exec is looking to recruit their replacement. If you are interested in any of the exec positions, please also send inquiries by email to [email protected] and the appropriate exec member will reply to you.

Stay well and stay safe.

Hi everyone! I’m Sean, the Project Manager for IEEE.
I’m in 4th year Electrical Engineering. Technically I’m in my 5th at Western if you include the 16 months I spent working at a consulting engineering firm in London.

I’m so excited to be a part of the IEEE executive team. The club has a lot to offer as the Western branch of the most prominent association of electrical and electronic professionals/academics in the world. Did you know the IEEE produces more than 30% of the world’s literature in the field? That’s crazy! In that spirit, be on the lookout for technical skill development events that I’m planning. Currently I have a soldering workshop in mind, and I was thinking of hosting some general lab consultation hours. For course help, lab help, project help, anything. If you think you could benefit from events like that or others, drop me a comment below.

Why Electrical?
I picked electrical because it seemed to me to have the broadest applications while still being quite employable. Basically it kept the doors open for me to keep figuring out what I really wanted to do, be it more software or more hardware oriented, wireless or wired, small scale electronics or large scale power systems. Since then I’ve become quite interested in power generation and distribution, and worked designing residential and commercial power systems during my internship.
Feel free to reach out if you want to chat about consulting engineering or the electrical program!

Fun fact: I am anosmic, meaning I have no sense of smell. Also I have no decent/recent pictures of myself, so here’s one of my Fiancée and I.

Hi everyone! I’m Sirada, the Corporate Relations Liaison for IEEE.
I’m in 4th year of Mechatronic Systems Engineering. Some of my past work experiences include: Configuration Management for UAV’s at an R&D company in Thailand, Electrical Distribution Systems Planning at Toronto Hydro, and IT Business Analytics at Unilever.

I’m thrilled to be working with IEEE this year as the Corporate Relations Liaison and hope that I can fully capitalize on IEEE’s expansive network to bring networking and industry opportunities to Western’s campus.

Why Mechatronics?
For me, robotics and mechatronic systems are the future of industry. With the automation of many systems, whether it be in manufacturing or even HR, the skills learned in tron are more applicable than ever. Having chosen tron as my discipline has allowed me to develop these skills and increased my employability in industries that interest me!

Fun fact: I cannot live without coffee (like most people… so is it really a fun fact?)
