On May 20, we had the privilege of connecting with over 100 alumni and supporters of Western Education at our annual Teacher's Night at the London Children's Museum.

While the Children’s Museum is a top destination for local school field trips, this event aimed to turn the tables for attendees encouraging them to see the museum through the eyes of a child by participating in a scavenger hunt.

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈 Celebrate Pride 2026 at Western by joining events that honour and support the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Pride is a time to celebrate, reflect, uplift and act — and it's for everyone.

Throughout June and July, University College Tower, Brescia Tower, and Alumni Hall will glow in rainbow lights. ✨🌈 The Progress Pride Flag — which honours the full spectrum of the community, including the feathered chevron that recognizes Two-Spirit people — is raised at Concrete Beach. Flying it during National Indigenous History Month highlights the unique presence and significance of Indigenous identities within this celebration.

Congratulations to Professor Daniel Ansari, Canada Research Chair in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning, who has been recognized as the recipient of the 2026 Pickering Award for Outstanding Contribution to Developmental Psychology in Canada.

Congratulations to Sonia Zhou, PhD candidate in Critical Policy, Equity, and Leadership Studies on receiving honourable mention in the ESRI Young Scholars Award competition.

Zhou's doctoral research explores how urban demographic shifts influence school enrollment, composition and outcomes by building a spatial dataset that integrates Canadian Census, Ontario Health and Ministry of Education data. By combining spatial statistics with critical theory, her study aims to offer policymakers and school boards insights to foster equitable opportunities for every student.

The ESRI Young Scholars Award program was launched in 2012 to recognize the exemplary work in geospatial sciences of undergraduate and graduate students at universities around the world.
