Classics Students' Association of McGill The CSA allows students who love the Ancient Mediterranean World in all its aspects to come together

The Classics Students Association was established in 2006 to allow students who love the Ancient Mediterranean World in all its aspects (languages, history, art, philosophy, etc) to come together to form a vibrant, dynamic student community. Our objective is to make Classics more visible and accessible on campus, organizing events of a social and academic nature that will both further the study of

the ancient world and enrich student life. We routinely hold wine and cheeses, pub nights, the ever popular ancient history movie nights and sponsor guest lectures from visiting scholars.

Only a couple of hours left! Sumbit your creative work to Volare by midnight to be featured in their Gods & Monsters issue, which will be printed and distributed at our Spring Wine and Cheese 😉👀

What's that? An extra couple weeks to submit to Volare's spring issue, giving our community another chance to see their beautiful pieces in print? What a treat!

That's right, you now have until March 18th to send us your creative works. All forms of creative submissions are welcome, so long as they pertain in some way to the ancient Mediterranean world.

We welcome you to feel inspired by this semester's theme: pay homage to a favourite god or monster, explore the traditional dichotomy between the two, or challenge what it means to be 'monstrous' or 'divine.'

Send all works & questions to [email protected] 🌿✨🏛

Final week for submissions!

Final week for submissions!

Volare’s new theme just dropped and it’s what you’ve all been waiting for: Gods & Monsters. This semester, the McGill Classics creative journal is looking for submissions related to the monstrous and/or the divine in Greco-Roman mythology. Pick a side - choose to be traditional and focus on a favourite god or "monster," or challenge this dichotomy by contrasting the two. Examine the humanity that lies in the monstrous, or explore what monstrosity lies in the divine. Get inspired by classic figures such as the Minotaur and Medusa or the gods who created them. Channel your inner Madeline Miller by taking on the perspective of the villain rather than the hero. Regardless of the direction you decide to take, we’re eager to see what you’ve got!

We accept creative submissions of all forms, from short stories and poetry to visual art or memes. Submissions are due by midnight on March 4th and should be sent to [email protected]. Send any written pieces as Word documents or Google docs, and visual submissions as JPEGs or PNGs.
