The Indian Ocean World Centre (IOWC) is a designated McGill University Research Centre formally established in 2011 on the initiative of Gwyn Campbell, McGill's Canada Research Chair in Indian Ocean World History. The core of an international research network, our team of research associates, postdoctoral fellows, and research trainees at the graduate and undergraduate level, are dedicated to adva

ncing and developing Indian Ocean World studies across disciplines and between institutions, both at McGill and globally. In addition to leading and participating in a number of major collaborative research initiatives, the IOWC organizes a bi-annual conference and a weekly Speaker Series, as well as publishes the peer-reviewed Journal of Indian Ocean World Studies and an open-source graduate working paper series.
