At our Fall 2019 GA, the HCGSA voted unanimously to endorse the AGSEM unionization drive for graders, note-takers, tutors, and other casual academic support staff. Many grad students in our department are already members of AGSEM as TAs and Invigilators, but we have also seen an increase in low-paid casual jobs with few protections. With so much uncertainty about our livelihoods, we need a union now more than ever!

Are you, or have you been, a grader, tutor, note-taker, course assistant, or related academic support worker on campus?

If you have worked one of these positions from Summer 2019 to present, now is the time to join AGSEM’s Unionization Drive and enable labour representation for all academic support workers at McGill.

Only with your voluntary support right now can AGSEM improve your working conditions, as they have continued to do with Teaching Assistants and Invigilators for many years.
