Hello everyone!! My name is Sasha Staggs and I have fulfilled the role of Communications Manager and Editor for the Orientations journal this academic year. With the 15th volume of the journal out and as we wrap up this semester, which will be my last at McGill as a soon to be graduate, I would like to take the time to thank all the people who made my involvement at Orientations possible.

From the East Asian Studies Students' Association executive members who hired me as an editor, to Orientations’ Editorial Board who accepted my offer to be Communications Manager when the opportunity arose, I am truly grateful. I would like to give a special thank you to Léa Baillargeon, our Editor-in-Chief, for trusting me to be her right hand and fostering my creativity during our time at the journal. She is a powerhouse, extremely talented and did an amazing job. Although the issue is not perfect and we missed a lot of fixable errors, Léa and I were a two person team covering 56 pages of text and image with only one week to fix any blemishes. Regardless, I’m extremely proud of us and thankful for the experience.

I’ve had a wonderful time curating and designing the posts on our social media, creating event posters, reviving and updating our website and blog, uploading the digital issue, working with motivated team members like Jessica Zhang, interviewing and hiring the future Editorial Board, working on the launch panel and event, and meeting such amazing and passionate people.

I am looking forward to what our future Coms Manager, Annette Hong Kim, has planned for us all and can guarantee that she brilliant ideas for what Orientations has to offer next year!!

After a year of inactivity due to the pandemic, Orientations is proud to present its 15th volume!! It’s available in our bio on our Linktree and down below; check it out 🤩🎋

“This year, despite being short-staffed and dealing with restrictive deadlines, we have successfully brought forward a compelling issue full of artistry. Creating the Winter 2022 issue would not have been possible without the work of our editors, peer reviewers, and authors, who gave a lot of themselves during the process.” - Léa Baillargeon, Editor-in-Chief
