Our research investigates how infants from different language backgrounds, both monolingual and bilingual, grow and learn about their language(s). Our team consists of Dr. Krista Byers-Heinlein and a group of dedicated students and research assistants. (Le français suit...) What words does your baby understand?

At the Concordia Infant Research Lab, we are looking for parents with babies 16-30 months old who regularly hear English and/or French to join our study.

Participation will involve a one-hour visit to the lab. Your child will watch short videos and you will fill out some questionnaires before and during the lab visit.

Your baby will receive a diploma and a lab T-shirt as a thank you.

Quels mots votre bébé comprend-il ?

Au Laboratoire de Recherche sur l’Enfance de Concordia, nous cherchons des parents d’enfants de 16 à 30 mois qui entendent régulièrement l’anglais et/ou le français pour participer à notre étude.

Votre participation comprend une visite d’une heure au laboratoire. Votre enfant regardera de courtes vidéos et vous remplirez quelques questionnaires avant et pendant la visite.

Votre bébé recevra un diplôme et un t-shirt du laboratoire en guise de remerciement.

Cette étude implique de remplir des questionnaires en ligne, ainsi qu'une visite en personne avec votre enfant à notre laboratoire situé sur le campus Loyola de Concordia. Votre enfant recevra des cadeaux tels qu'un diplôme et des jouets pour leur participation.

Is your child learning English, French and any third language?

At the Concordia Infant Research Lab, we are looking for families with 2.5 to 4 year old (30-48 months) children to participate in our study about trilingual children’s language development. This study involves completing some online questionnaires, as well as one in-person visit with your child to our lab located at Concordia’s Loyola Campus. Your child will receive gifts such as a diploma and toys for participating.

Participate in our online tablet study!

At the Concordia Infant Research Lab, we are looking for bilingual families living in Quebec with 3 to 4 year old children to participate in our online tablet study about preschoolers’ word learning.

To participate in this study, you will need an iPad or other tablet with which your child will play a game and learn new words. The study should take no longer than 10 minutes. You will receive a $10 gift card for your participation.

Au Laboratoire de Recherche sur l'Enfance de Concordia, nous recherchons des familles bilingues vivant au Québec qui ont des enfants de 3 à 4 ans pour participer à notre étude sur tablette en ligne concernant l'apprentissage des mots chez les enfants d'âge préscolaire.

Pour participer à cette étude, vous aurez besoin d'un iPad ou autre tablette avec laquelle votre enfant jouera à un jeu et apprendra de nouveaux mots. L'étude ne devrait pas prendre plus de 10 minutes. Vous recevrez une carte-cadeau de 10 $ pour votre participation.

We are very pleased to share our new study with you, which is in collaboration with the University of Barcelona in Spain.

We are looking for parents living in Quebec with a child between 1 and 5 years old (up to their sixth birthday) who has been learning English and French from birth. Participation consists of completing a single online questionnaire lasting approximately 15-20 minutes.

Nous sommes très heureux de partager avec vous notre nouvelle étude, réalisée en collaboration avec l'Université de Barcelone en Espagne.

This study involves one visit to our lab located at Concordia’s Loyola Campus. Your child will receive gifts such as a lab t-shirt and a diploma for participating. You may additionally receive a report on your child’s vocabulary knowledge.
