Bộ trưởng Lena Metlege Diab - bộ trưởng bộ di trú của Canada đã đưa ra quyết định tiếp tục đóng băng (giữ nguyên) danh sách các ngành học được cấp PGWP vào năm 2026; điều đó có nghĩa là sẽ không có thêm hoặc bớt ngành học nào vào danh sách này trong năm tới.

Cập nhật mới từ IRCC – Tháng 10/2025:

1: Học sinh K-12 chuyển lên bậc sau trung học (Post-secondary)

Học sinh K-12 đang ở Canada bằng Study Permit vẫn được phép bắt đầu chương trình học sau trung học nếu đã nộp hồ sơ gia hạn Study Permit trước khi giấy phép hiện tại hết hạn.

Ghi chú trên Study Permit (“going to primary or secondary school”) không ảnh hưởng đến việc bắt đầu học tại DLI sau trung học.

Tuy nhiên, học sinh K-12 đang ở Canada bằng Visitor Record thì phải chờ hồ sơ xin Study Permit trong nước (SP-EXT) được duyệt trước khi nhập học.

2. Hiệu lực của PAL (Provincial Attestation Letter)

Nếu PAL còn hiệu lực tại thời điểm nộp hồ sơ, có thể dùng cho chương trình học bắt đầu vào năm kế tiếp (ví dụ: PAL2025 dùng cho kỳ nhập học 2026).

3. Ghi chú quyết định của viên chức (Officer Decision Notes)

IRCC bắt đầu gửi kèm ghi chú của viên chức xét hồ sơ (Officer Decision Notes) cùng với thư từ chối Study Permit.

Ghi chú này giúp ứng viên hiểu rõ lý do từ chối dựa trên quy định pháp luật và hồ sơ đã nộp.

IRCC khuyến khích đọc thư từ chối và ghi chú cùng nhau để nắm đầy đủ thông tin.

4. Ứng dụng công nghệ và trí tuệ nhân tạo (Advanced Analytics)

IRCC đang sử dụng hệ thống tự động và phân tích nâng cao để xử lý hồ sơ nhanh hơn, đặc biệt là hồ sơ gia hạn Study Permit.

Hệ thống chỉ hỗ trợ phân loại và phân bổ hồ sơ, không tự động ra quyết định từ chối.

Viên chức IRCC vẫn là người đưa ra quyết định cuối cùng.

5. Thời gian xử lý hồ sơ (Processing Times)

Thời gian xử lý Study Permit vẫn trong chuẩn 60 ngày.

IRCC đang tập trung xử lý hồ sơ gia hạn và hồ sơ chuyển DLI.

Tính đến đầu tháng 10, gần 80% hồ sơ gia hạn được xử lý trong vòng 120 ngày, tuy nhiên thời gian hiển thị trên website có thể dao động đến giữa tháng 12

Mandatory Study Permit Confirmation - Winter (January) 2026

As part of our preparations for Winter (January) 2026, all new students must complete the Mandatory New Student Study Permit Confirmation Form, regardless of the current status of your Study Permit application.

Please complete the form even if your application has not yet been submitted. You will have the opportunity to update and resubmit the form once your Study Permit status changes.

If students have not applied for their study permit and student visa, we strongly recommend applying as soon as possible.

As we move through Summer 2025, we have several important updates to share with you - from IRCC announcements and new program offerings to scholarship extensions and admissions deadlines. Please read on for the latest news that may impact your students planning to study at Douglas College.
Study Permit Updates & PGWP Eligibility


Important Update for Students Moving from Secondary (High school) to Post-Secondary Studies (College/University)


Students transitioning from secondary to post-secondary education must apply to extend their study permit to continue their studies. They may study at the post-secondary level while waiting for a decision. However, if the extension is refused, they must stop studying immediately.

PGWP Fields of Study Eligibility - Important change related to June 25, 2025 announcement



Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is providing a grace period, retroactive to June 25, 2025, during which time the 178 fields of study that were removed from the list of PGWP-eligible fields will remain eligible.

“On July 4, 2025 we updated the list of eligible CIP codes to add back fields of study that were removed on June 25, 2025.

Those fields of study that were removed on June 25, 2025 will stay eligible until the list is next updated in early 2026. If you submitted your study permit application in one of them between June 25 and July 4 , you’ll still meet the field of study requirement when you graduate.

Eligible fields of study are linked to certain jobs in long-term shortage in Canada and can change based on the needs of the Canadian labour market.”

REMINDER for Fall 2025 Accepted Students


Study Permit Confirmation Deadline:

Please remind your Fall (September) 2025 accepted students to complete the Mandatory Study Permit Confirmation Form by August 15, 2025.



This step is required for all new students, even if they haven’t yet submitted their Study Permit application. They will be able to update their response once their application status changes.



Failure to complete the form by the deadline may result in students being dropped from their classes and needing to defer or request a refund.

We are pleased to announce that the Douglas College Regional Entrance Awards, valued at CAD $1,000–$2,000, are still available for the Winter (January) 2026 and Summer (May) 2026 intakes.



Please also remind your students about the opportunity to apply for the prestigious Dr. Guangwei Ouyang International Education Entrance Scholarship, valued at CAD $2,500.

Since you were admitted close to the start of the term, we want to make sure you're fully informed about next steps and important deadlines.



1 - Apply Early

It is your responsibility to apply for your study permit as early as possible. We recommend applying at least 4–6 months before your program starts to avoid any delays.

Because your admission came less than four months before the program start date, please be aware:

Study permit (SP) processing times for your country of residence may not align with your program start date.
You are still required to confirm your SP approval by the deadline for your intake (see below).

2 - Options if your SP is not approved by the deadline

If your SP is still in progress by the deadline:

If your SP is refused, you may request a full refund (minus $250 administrative fee) with proof.

Global Game Jam là một cuộc thi thường niên cho các nhà phát triển Game trên toàn thế giới có thể thỏa sức sáng tạo. Về bản chất, đây là sự kiện mà những người làm game, những người đam mê game tụ họp lại để tạo ra những chương trình game mà họ yêu thích!
Douglas College, campus New Westminster rất vinh dự là nơi diễn ra sự kiện Global Game Jam - Vancouver năm 2025.
Việc tổ chức sự kiện này tại khuôn viên Douglas là một bước tiến quan trọng hướng tới việc định vị Trường là đơn vị dẫn đầu nghiêm túc trong lĩnh vực phát triển trò chơi và trải nghiệm tương tác, đồ họa máy tính ứng dụng, giáo dục máy tính và công nghệ âm nhạc.
