With the semester wrapping up, we asked Dr. Rawlins about his favorite part of the Capstone Creator Project.

His answer? Watching students take complete ownership of their ideas. From a single spark in January to fully fleshed-out projects just three months later, this course is all about self-directed creativity and taking initiative.

FSSH faculty, staff and students took part in the City of Oshawa's and their community partners' annual "Communities with Brooms" clean-up and barbeque on Wednesday, April 22, keeping our streets clean! It was a beautiful day for a clean-up!

FSSH's participation was coordinated by our Experiential Learning Office, Dan Walters and Lisa Shannon.

It was a full house at our 4th annual opioid symposium, "Strategies for Recovery: The Collective Fight Against the Toxic Drug Epidemic". We took a deep and meaningful dive into examining housing insecurity, stigma, harm reduction, and the changing landscape of drug toxicity and what it means for drug policy and public health.

Thank you to all participants for joining us, and thank you to our panelists and moderators - Dr. Tyler Frederick, Derek Giberson, Dr. Naomi Nichols, Dr. Tanner Mirrlees, Dr. Steven Hayle, Dr. Amir Mostaghim, Beth Whalen, Brooklyn Main, and Chris Cull.
