The University of Regina's Theatre Department is delighted to invite you to our annual Distinguished Alumni event, celebrating this year's honouree, Jayden Pfeifer.

We would love to have you join us on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 7:30 PM in the ShuBox Theatre. Jayden will present new work, followed by a reception. Also, as part of the celebration, we will introduce our incoming first-year BFA/BA cohort as well as our newest faculty member, Dr. Michael Reinhart, to the community.

About this year's honouree:
Jayden Pfeifer is a Regina-based independent theatre artist whose professional practice as an actor, director, improviser, and new work creator has spanned nearly 25 years. Jayden is an Artistic Associate with Curtain Razors and has been integral to the operations and vision of this multidisciplinary performance company. He has helped to create Curtain Razors performance and community-based projects since 2015.
Jayden is an instructor with over 20 years of professional teaching experience. He specializes in improvisation, ensemble work, and new work creation. He holds a BFA and MFA from the University of Regina and teaches sessionally at the UofR for the Department of Media, Art, and Performance, the nitôncipâmin omâ Student Success Program, and SUNTEP (Gabriel Dumont Institute). Jayden was the Regional Director for the Canadian Improv Games (CIG) in Saskatchewan for 10 years and helped run the national CIG Improv Camp for 6 years.
Jayden is known by colleagues and audiences as an instinctual improviser, thoughtful storyteller and dexterous collaborator. His aptitude to work physically in his artmaking gives him a unique signature in the field of theatre practice.

The University of Regina Theatre Department is thrilled to announce that Dr. Michael Reinhart has accepted the Assistant Professor in Devised Performance and Theatre Creation tenure-track position effective July 1, 2026.

Dr. Reinhart is a theatre/performance creator, devised performance scholar and theatre instructor. Their work (both creative and academic) is based on exploring interdisciplinary art-making and collective-driven devised performance creation. Much of their research has occurred through collaboration with [elephants] collective (elephants collective) and boundary conditions/performance assembly, both of which they are a founding member of.

As an educator, Michael has taught at Brock University, Toronto Metropolitan University, Randolph College for the Performing Arts and the University of Toronto. Michael maintains a busy artistic practice as a creator, director, performer, and dramaturg, select works include; “A Wake for Lost Time” (toured nationally, 2014-2020), “4.5 (ig)noble truths” (toured nationally, 2016-2020), “Operations (1945-2006 ):Movements” (Nuit Blanche Toronto, 2018), “ARTSTAR” (Nuit Blanche Toronto, 2019), “A Kitchen Sink Drama” (Buddies in Bad Times, 2017), “Surplus Party Guest” (Katzmann Contemporary, 2017). Currently, Michael is creating a new performance for this Fall's Nuit Blanche, commissioned by the City of Toronto.

Associate Professor and Head of Theatre Dr. Shannon Holmes had the great pleasure of spending time with one of the Theatre Department’s most distinguished alumni- Janine Pearson this past weekend at the National Voice Association Conference “Raise Your Voice” at the University of Calgary.
One of Canada’s most revered voice and text coaches, Janine has spent the last 24 seasons as the Head of Voice and Coaching at The Stratford Festival.🎭
