The Psychology Department’s very own prognosticating groundhog boldly predicted that we will see an early spring. Crabtree Carl – who resides in Dr. Claxton-Oldfield’s office –emerged from under Claxton-Oldfield’s desk this morning, stood under the professor’s mighty beard, and did not see his shadow! Claxton-Oldfield was surprised, saying, “I’d forgotten the furry fellow lived under there!” Have you seen the state of his office lately?!”😁

What did your earliest s*x ed lessons really teach you? For many, it was gossip, outdated videos, or health classes no one took seriously.

Dr. Lisa Dawn Hamilton, psychology professor at Mount Allison, is rethinking s*x education — uncovering how subtle s*xism is embedded in the classroom and exploring how we can make it more inclusive, equitable, and effective.

Hamilton is taking a comprehensive look at New Brunswick’s s*x ed curriculum in both Anglophone and Francophone school districts. The team’s expertise spans educational policy, curriculum development, feminist analysis, and gender equality in classroom settings.

Her new federally funded project, 'Subtle S*xism in S*x Ed: A Feminist Analysis of School-Based S*x Education', is supported by a one-year, $103,251 grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
