For this project, our client had a photo of a welder as their main inspiration and imagery they wanted for their logo. While it was a strong visual reference, the challenge was transforming a detailed photograph into a mark that was original, scalable, and instantly recognizable.

The final result is a custom logo that captures the original concept while functioning as a versatile brand mark across print, digital, signage, apparel, and more.

A good reminder that what works in a photo doesn't always work in a logo and thoughtful refinement is what bridges that gap.

When we first started exploring concepts for Oakmoss, one challenge kept coming up: our iterations looked more like coral than oakmoss. We knew the brand needed to feel true to nature and true to life, so we kept pushing.

It took plenty of brainstorming, feedback, and collaboration across our team experimenting with colour, texture, typography, and illustration before everything finally clicked.

The win? A brand identity that feels authentic to the environment it represents.

We’re growing, which means we’re looking to add another creative to the HelloPublic team. ✨

We’re on the hunt for a graphic designer who’s comfortable with photo and video. Someone who understands cameras, lighting, composition, and basic video workflows. You don’t need to know everything (we love teaching around here), but you should feel confident picking up a camera and figuring things out as you go.

This is a role for someone who’s curious, driven, and comfortable working independently. We’re a small team, which means ownership, initiative, and momentum matter here.

A few important things to know before you apply:
• You must be local to the Edmonton area
• You’ll need availability for occasional evenings and weekends
• A portfolio is required. Applications without one won’t be considered.

If you’re a multidisciplinary creative who likes variety, takes pride in their work, and wants to grow with a hands-on, motivated team, we’d love to hear from you.

A great headshot should look like you. 👋

Over the past month, the HelloPublic team photographed and edited 37+ headshots for the newly appointed councils in St. Albert and Spruce Grove — a true marathon of lighting, retouching, and copious amounts of caffeine. ☕

Each image gets anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour of detailed editing. We know studio lighting can be harsh, so we clean up texture, tame flyaways, and even out skin tones, all while keeping things natural. Because at the end of the day, a great corporate headshot shouldn’t turn you into someone else. It should show you at your best! Approachable, confident, and unmistakably you.

We are bringing back Trashed it Thursday! A series where we share projects that never launched, concepts that lived only in presentations, and ideas we still love even if they never saw the light of day. Not every design makes it out into the world, but that doesn’t make it any less worth celebrating! Sometimes the work teaches us something, inspires something else, or just reminds us why we love what we do.

Today’s feature: our 2021 website concept for a Yoga studio website. This website is a clean and thoughtfully structured design we still have heart eyes for. We loved how the imagery, graphics, and typography flowed together, creating a sense of calm and clarity that mirrored the studio’s energy.

This one may not have launched, but it still feels good to revisit. A little design zen for your Thursday. 🧘‍♀️✨
