Understanding Learning in a Digital Age

Dr. Cathlene Hillier's (PhD) research examines how children learn with digital technologies and the roles that schools and families play in supporting that learning.

"Collaboration, communication and problem solving are things employers are looking for in the workplace," Hillier said. "So, we need to build these skills, essentially for children's futures in an ever-evolving job force."

University of Saskatchewan College of Education alumni Megan Lindquist (BA’19, BEd’19) and Taylor McGregor (BSKI’19, BEd’19) have carried their lifelong friendship into their teaching careers.

“We connected in education because we were both Huskie athletes and because of the common things we did outside of our day-to-day school lives,” McGregor said.

Dismantling systemic racism through USask anti-racism education courses

Professors, researchers, and alumni from the University of Saskatchewan College of Education are teaching the language and layers of anti-racism and anti-oppression so educators can decolonize classrooms.

“I want to provide educators with opportunities to build community,” Dr. Carmen Gillies said. “The right to practice anti-racism in Canadian schools should not be taken for granted, and we have a responsibility to defend students’ rights.”
