NEW IRCC UPDATE: STUDY WITHOUT A STUDY PERMIT

As of September 9, 2026, eligible open work permit holders already in Canada may be able to complete a short-term program of study without applying for a separate study permit.

Under IRCC’s new temporary public policy:

✅ You must hold a valid open work permit
✅ Your entire program — including placement/work experience — must be 6 months or less
✅ The program must be completed before your work permit expires
✅ Eligible open work permit holders do not need a new work permit for a practicum or work placement

This temporary policy is currently scheduled to remain in effect until December 31, 2027.

Tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot can be incredible study partners when used responsibly. They can help you understand difficult concepts, quiz yourself before exams, improve your writing, and build confidence.

But remember: AI should support your learning, not replace it.
