We’re excited to announce the Metacreation Lab's 2026 Online Workshop Series: Open Source Creative AI Tools, taking place August 19-22.

Drawing on two decades of research and creation at the Metacreation Lab, this free four-day series introduces artist-centred approaches to creative AI across music, sound, and visual generation. Through hands-on demonstrations, we’ll explore small-data, model crafting, and personalization as alternatives to mainstream big-data and prompt-based AI.

Aug 19 – Music with MIDI-GPT
Explore AI-assisted music composition with MIDI-GPT, including generating, continuing, and reworking multi-track MIDI compositions (available online and in Reaper).

Aug 20 – Autolume
Learn to train and creatively interact with your own GAN models using your own visuals as datasets, with no coding required.

Aug 21 – Fragmenta
Explore a complete text-to-audio workflow: from building your own dataset and training LoRAs to generation and live performance.

Aug 22 – Model Bending in ComfyUI
Go beyond prompting by directly manipulating the internal activations of diffusion models to create glitches, abstractions, and unexpected visual results.

All workshops are free, online, and open to participants with different levels of technical experience.
