Lakehead University Student Union (LUSU) For Students. By Students. The Lakehead University Student Union (LUSU) represents all students studying at Lakehead University.

We are over 8,000 strong, uniting undergraduate and graduate, full- and part-time, and domestic and international students across Lakehead’s two campuses in Thunder Bay and Orillia. LUSU’s mandate is to ensure that all students can pursue academic excellence as well as personal and social growth at Lakehead, free from barriers related to income, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, family

status, or ability. Through LUSU, students access a wide variety of services, supports, job and volunteer opportunities, and social life like clubs and events. The student union advocates for students’ interests within Lakehead University and the community, including municipal government. Lakehead students are also represented at provincially and nationally through our membership in the Canadian Federation of Students. We’re taking over campus with live entertainment, games, activities, competitions and plenty of chances to get in on the prizes we announced earlier this week. 👀

Indigenous students, this opportunity is for you. 🌏

Two Lakehead First Nations, Inuit or Métis students will be selected to take part in the Visionary Ancestors’ Programme 2026 at the University of Waikato in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

This two-week Indigenous Field School brings together Indigenous change-makers to explore knowledge, leadership and community.

Two eligible Lakehead students will receive funding through Lakehead University’s Offices of Indigenous Initiatives, LUSU and the International Office, including programme costs and airfare.

📅 Applications close Thursday, September 10 at 10 PM.
