A HUGE thank you to our incredible Volunteer Squad members who showed up to welcome our newest Huskies during New Student Orientation at St. James and Waterfront campuses! 🐾

For a new student, the first days of college can be exciting, overwhelming, and maybe even a little intimidating. That's why the people who are there to greet you matter.

A smile.
A hello.
Someone to answer a question.
Someone to point you in the right direction.
Someone who makes a new campus feel just a little more like home.
Someone who showed you around the campus on our tours.

Our volunteers did all of that, and so much more. ❤️

You gave your time and energy to help someone else begin their George Brown Polytechnic journey on a positive note. And while you may not always realize the impact of those small moments, they matter.

To everyone pictured here, and every Volunteer Squad member, and every staff member behind the scenes and on the ground who helped make Orientation possible:

Dear George Brown Community,

George Brown teams have been working overnight to respond to the impacts of a power outage that damaged electrical switchgear at Casa Loma Campus last night as a result of the extreme weather conditions.

As a result, Casa Loma Campus ONLY will be closed and inaccessible to both employees and students today (September 3). All in-person orientation activities scheduled at Casa Loma Campus TODAY (September 3) will NOT proceed as planned.

The daycare centre at Casa Loma will also be closed.

We know many new students have been looking forward to Orientation and may already have made plans to travel to campus. We are working to determine alternative dates and will share further information about Orientation as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility as recovery work continues. Please continue to monitor your George Brown email and georgebrown.ca for updates
