๐ MANDATORY COMPLIANCE STEP ONTARIO
๐ Prior-to-Midpoint Review = Required in Every Student File
Career colleges, donโt skip this one!
To comply with Ministry refund policy rules under O. Reg. 415/06, every student must receive a Prior-to-Midpoint Evaluation.
๐ Why it matters:
If a student withdraws after the midpoint, they are not eligible for a refund.
If they withdraw before the midpoint, they may are eligible โ so this review gives them the chance to decide.
๐ What to do (1โ1.5 weeks before midpoint):
1๏ธโฃ Print Attendance + Progress Reports
2๏ธโฃ For students in good standing:
โข Send email + attach reports pr have a meeting to inform them about it
โข Student must reply or sign a form confirming theyโve reviewed and wish to continue
3๏ธโฃ For students with poor performance:
โข Email and require a meeting to develop a Probation or Success Plan
โข Record notes and have the student and staff sign off after the meeting
๐ฉ Include this note in your email to confirm the receipt and continue of studentโs enrolment:
โIf we do not receive a response within 48 (or 24) hours, we will assume you have reviewed and decided to continue with your program.โ
๐ Each student file must include:
โ
Attendance report
โ
Progress report
โ
Email + student response or signed meeting record
๐ก๏ธ This step is a compliance safeguard โ and protects both your school and your students.
โผ๏ธ Please note that OSAP students require a mid-point prior to the second enrolment.
If your program is a 2-year program, 2 mid-point evaluations will be required prior to the 2nd confirmation of enrolment for each program year.
