Emmanuel College was well represented at the annual meeting of the Canadian Theological Society!

Prof. Natalie Wigg-Stevenson joined three Emmanuel doctoral students for a panel exploring “The Production of Theological Knowledge: Ethnographic Theology and the Disruption of Traditional Knowledge Hierarchies.”

The panel featured:
• Kristen Blair on Reflexivity
• Allison Moore on Representation
• Mike MacKenzie on Normativity

Prof. Wigg-Stevenson introduced and moderated the discussion, which examined how ethnographic approaches can challenge and reshape traditional assumptions about theological knowledge and authority.

Interested in exploring these questions further? TST doctoral students may want to consider Prof. Wigg-Stevenson’s doctoral seminar, “Ethnographic Approaches to Theology,” being offered this fall.

Grateful to be part of the national gathering of the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS) community this week — a space that continues to shape and strengthen the future of spiritual care and psychospiritual therapy in Canada.

The annual conference brings together students, educators, and practitioners from across the country to share learning, research, and best practices in a field grounded in holistic care and human connection .

We loved reconnecting with alumni and celebrating the work of our community alongside Professor Pam McCarroll. Including connecting with our new partner Ernest Ng from TLKYCS.

A special highlight: congratulations to Amira Ayad on receiving the Award for Excellence in Psychospiritual Therapy & Spiritual Care — a well-deserved recognition of outstanding leadership and impact in the field.

This past Saturday, we gathered in the Emmanuel College Chapel to celebrate the graduates of the Cantonese Continuing Education Certificate Program: Reconstructing Faith Amid Diaspora and Trauma.

It was a meaningful time of reflection, gratitude, and community—marked by sharing from graduates, words of encouragement from faculty and leadership, and the joyful presentation of certificates.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Wing Yi Wong for the extraordinary care and leadership behind this program, and to all the teachers who guided and supported students throughout their journey.

🍽️ The celebration continued with fellowship over a shared meal featuring Hong Kong specialties—an especially fitting expression of culture, connection, and community.

Congratulations to our graduates—we look forward to all that lies ahead.
