Reece Young, Grace Adams, Alex Erickson, A***n Dhar, and Andrea Caceres are Munk One students from the 2019-2020 cohort who won the annual Dragons’ Den pitch to become the inaugural participants in The Carey Projects. In the latest blog on our website, they provide an update on their initiative, The Awa Project, which seeks to alleviate poverty and increase water access in the Peruvian community of Ihunaco through a fog-catching initiative.

Renee Jagdeo is an alumna of the 2019-2020 Munk One Cohort, and is now running to be the youngest City Councillor in Toronto's history! Her platform includes expanding affordable housing, increasing COVID-19 protections for renters and businesses, and increasing green spaces in public areas in Ward 22 (Scarborough-Agincourt). One of these proposals even takes inspiration from her time in the Munk One Program!

On Dec 3, the Dr. David Chu Program in Asia-Pacific Studies at the Asian Institute invites you to attend the webinar on the “Landscapes for Authoritarianism in Japan, China, India, and Beyond”. Abhayjeet Singh Sachal is an alumni of the 2019-2020 Munk One Cohort. Along with his brother Sukmeet and friend Andrea, he founded Break The Divide, a youth-centred non-profit that aims to break down barriers between communities in Canada.

Last year, his work was recognized by Canada's Walk of Fame and he was awarded the Community Hero Award. A year later, he reflects about his path and how the experience has inspired him on the Munk One student blog:
