UC alumna Christine Ovcaric (BA 2004 UC) founded the Faculty of Arts & Science Sandbox program to give students the chance to solve real problems for real communities. Now that vision is paying off. UC student Emmett Young and teammates Samantha Kyle and Juliette Adams Fong recently used it to build "Take the Scenic Route," an interactive web map app that helps people explore The Beaches neighbourhood in fun and unexpected ways. The UC spirit of curiosity and community runs deep. 🗺️

“I wanted to do something that will help U of T students forever.”

That’s what inspired University College alum Amir Hussain (BSc ’87) to make a legacy gift in honour of his late wife, Shannon Hamm.

The gift builds on a scholarship he established in her name and will continue to support students studying peace and conflict studies.
