On April 30th Water Allies will be supporting Resurgence,: A Community Engagement Forum to Celebrate Our Connection to These Lands and Waters, a community engagement forum to celebrate Indigenous presence on Toronto Island. ArtScape Gibraltar Point will be providing space for the event and will simultaneously be hosting their Winter Island Art Residency gallery viewing where attendees will be welcome to take part in studio tours.
2-4pm Studio Tours & Reception
4-8pm Music & Community Engagement Session
To support Indigenous revitalization on Toronto Island, musical performers will be gifting their talents. Curated performances will showcase the skills of talented musicians, Layla Staats Aysanabee/ Evan Pang POX, Jayohcee & Lee Reed.
During the event, Miranda Black, of Mohawk of the Bay of Quinte ancestry & the program manager of Water Allies, will be discussing Indigenous connection to land and waters as connected to their master’s research on Indigenous Relationships to Toronto Island and Surrounding Waters.
100% of donations raised from food and drink sales will go directly to Geronimo’s Dream, a memorial dedicated to the many children who did not leave the Mohawk Institute on Six Nations of the Grand River that include Haudenosaunee and the Mississauga of the Credit First Nation children.

The Urban Farm is looking for a full-time Indigenous Foodways Assistant (35 hours per week) who is passionate about food justice and ecological rooftop farming to work at the Farm starting on May 16th to August 19th (excluding holidays)! The work schedule is flexible and will be determined in collaboration with the farm's Indigenous-Led Programs Coordinator. The ideal candidate is passionate about building and strengthening community connections and sharing food, medicine and knowledge around Indigenous Foodways. The Urban Farm is seeking student employees who can bring diverse knowledge and practices related to farming, particularly to support Indigenous Food Sovereignty, along with Black Food Sovereignty and other culturally significant foodways.

The Motherboard Collective stands in solidarity with Indigenous Student Open Letter, published May 11 on the Yellowhead Institute website.

They have in response to the letter have organized a workshop to learn how to build a chrome extention that will automatically replace the name of the university with the letter X.

On May 11, 2021, an open letter from Indigenous students was uploaded to the Yellowhead Institute website. Addressing decades of activism on Ryerson campus for reconciliation and Ryerson's feeble attempts to answer.

The letter calls on everyone, faculty, staff and students to remove the university’s current name from email signatures, CVs, and other professional communications and replace it with an X.

The campaign hopes to reframe the conversation, so indigenous peoples are no longer forced to debate our humanity.

About: The Fashion Zone’s Indigenous Fashion Support Program (IFS) Program is a free, virtual incubation program that supports Indigenous entrepreneurs to experience the journey of building or scaling a business in the fashion industry. With a focus on fashion, product and technology, the program enables participants to sharpen their entrepreneurial skills while developing real-life solutions.

Responsibilities and Duties: The Events and Community Relations Ambassador plans and executes events and internal programming for the IFS and Fashion Zone programs. Projects could include but are not limited to planning, ex*****on, and support of programs, internal events, and support on improving the IFS start-ups' overall experience. The Events and Community Relations Ambassador will play an integral role in the planning and ex*****on of programming at the IFS. The role will require written and oral communication skills, collaboration with organizations and community groups, event planning, organization, coordination, administration, problem-solving, and creative thinking. It will also require the student to be a welcoming face to the IFS community. The Events and Community Relations Ambassador will work closely with the Fashion Zone Manager and Coordinator. This will develop the student's collaboration and communication skills. it will also build the student's soft skills and provide them with an experiential learning opportunity.

Assists with event logistics and internal communication (mentor meetings, member inquiries, scheduling)
Develops resources related to internal community programming and projects
Assists with executing internal community engagement programs
Works closely with the Zone Management and Coordinator on supporting internal programming at the IFS/Fashion Zone
Other duties as identified by the Zone Management/Coordinator
