All that hard work has paid off, and on June 17, Yifan Cao and her classmates will take the stage at Convocation Hall to transform from students to members of the Rotman alumni community. What happens when health struggles become a start-up idea?

Abdul Mohammed (MBA '26) spent years battling anxiety and fatigue without answers. Frustrated by long wait times and the stigma around men’s health, he decided to build a solution.

His company, Androgen Lab, is on a mission to make at-home male hormone testing accessible across Canada, where the self-testing market is projected to hit US$976 million by 2033.

At this year’s Family & Friends Fun Day, we caught up with Nathalie (MBA ’10) and Shamir Amlani (MBA ’09) — two Rotman alumni who first met on campus and have now been returning to the event for five years straight, this time with two kids in tow.

More than a decade after graduation, their connection to Rotman has only grown stronger. What started as a fun outing has become a family tradition — one that gives them the chance to share a piece of their Rotman story with their children.

For their kids, the day is packed with adventure: hands-on games, creative activities and exploring one of Toronto’s iconic landmarks together. For the Amlanis, it’s something even bigger — staying connected to the community that helped shape their lives.

“It’s a nice way to grow with the Rotman community,” they shared. Their advice to fellow alumni? Come back, even just for a day. You may be surprised by how quickly Rotman still feels like home.
