The Rotman experience begins with a simple idea: success is stronger when it’s shared.

Through the Reciprocity Ring, students are invited to make a request and discover just how willing others are to offer support, advice and connections. Led by Professor Bill McEvily, this longstanding Orientation tradition has become a defining part of the Rotman experience.

What starts during Orientation grows into a culture of giving that lasts throughout the program and beyond. On this day, alumni return to take part alongside new students, paying forward the support they once received and demonstrating the strength of the Rotman network.

More than an exercise, the Reciprocity Ring reflects a community built on generosity, reciprocity, and a commitment to helping one another succeed.

Congratulations to Rotman's own Prof. András Tilcsik, who has been elected to the Royal Society of Canada, as a member of the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists.

Election to the RSC College is one of the highest honours bestowed on mid-career Canadian researchers and artists for remarkable contributions in the humanities, arts and sciences, as well as in Canadian public life. Well done, and well-deserved!

It’s official – summer is over and the school year has begun! One sign of the seasonal change? The Rotman School welcomed students from the MFRM and MMA programs for an action packed two-day orientation. Day one brought students together for sessions on academic success, cultural fluency and career development, while helping them build the relationships that will shape their journey ahead. From insightful discussions in the classroom to a team-building challenge at the Royal Ontario Museum, the day was filled with learning, collaboration and new connections. The evening welcome reception with alumni, faculty and staff capped off an inspiring start to the year. Here's to the beginning of an unforgettable Rotman experience.

We're excited to announce the creation of the iA Financial Group Professorship in Quantitative Finance at the Rotman School, backed by a $600,000 philanthropic commitment from iA Financial Group (Industrial Alliance) over five years.

Professor Redouane Elkamhi will hold the professorship and will support research and teaching in quantitative finance, with a focus on asset pricing, risk management, portfolio construction and the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

The initiative reflects a shared commitment to advancing knowledge, developing talent and strengthening Canada's financial ecosystem through closer collaboration between academia and industry.

How do you go from midwifery to co-founding a national museum?

Sara Wolfe (EMBA '17) spent years as a midwife, helping launch Seventh Generation Midwives Toronto and later co-leading the development of the Toronto Birth Centre — a project that meant a year in steel-toe boots and a hard hat. Designing its governance, programming and budget showed her she wanted to influence health care at a systems level.

Rotman's Executive MBA gave her the tools to do it.

"Midwifery work is amazing, the best, but I was also starting to see that I wanted to have more influence, and to do that I needed more skills," Sara says. "That's what inspired me to do my MBA."

Today, she works in social finance and Indigenous health strategy and continues to teach at Rotman as an executive-in-residence.

"I went to Rotman because I like starting things that can have an impact in the world."

We’re delighted to welcome economist professor Raymond Fisman, a leading researcher in politics and finance, as the new Eddie Goldenberg Research Chair of Canada in Finance and Political Economy at the Rotman School of Management.

The appointment is part of the Government of Canada's Eddie Goldenberg Research Chairs of Canada program, a tri-agency initiative that will provide up to $1 billion over 12 years to help Canadian post-secondary institutions recruit exceptional researchers from around the world, including Canadians working abroad, leading transformational research.

Fisman joins Rotman as a professor of finance July 1, 2027.

Earlier this month, Rotman students boarded the Northern Spirit for a sunset cruise on Toronto Harbour, hosted by the Graduate Business Council in partnership with the Office of Student Engagement and the Program Services Office.

Throughout the evening, students Serine Lyu, Brent Brockerville and Govind Nanda spoke with passengers on board, asking them about their program, where they're from and the best thing that happened in their day.

This reel brings together those on-the-spot conversations with moments from the night — dancing, celebration and the energy of seeing the Rotman community connect outside the classroom.
