The University of Toronto Department of Computer Science has announced a major research partnership with AMD, a global leader in high-performance computing and advanced semiconductor technologies.

The new AMD–U of T Research Lab will advance next-generation artificial intelligence and computing technologies while strengthening Canada’s position as a global hub for innovation.

The lab will see AMD invest in 100 research projects over three years, tackling some of the most pressing challenges in AI and computing.

ARIA 2025 highlighted the depth and diversity of research at the University of Toronto's Department of Computer Science. More than 1,000 attendees explored over 140 applied research projects tackling real-world challenges in AI, health technology, cybersecurity and fintech.

From exposing GPU vulnerabilities to advancing cancer detection and reducing bias in fraud detection, ARIA demonstrated how academic research can drive tech innovation.
