Meet Brother Webb, an upcoming third-year Geography major and Master of Management student, as well as a member of the UBC Varsity Rugby Team.
This summer, Stephen had the privilege of representing the Rugby Canada U20 National Team in the Oceania Rugby Challenge in Nadi, Fiji, playing a pivotal role in helping the team secure a second-place finish. He then received a call-up to the Rugby Canada Senior Men’s National Team for their Summer Test Series. Currently, he is with the Men’s National Team as they prepare for the Pacific Nations Cup, competing against the USA and Japan, with hopes of qualifying for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.
Outside of rugby, Stephen has kept busy working as an Appraisal & Valuations Intern at Garnett Wilson Realty Advisors, with aspirations of pursuing a career in Commercial Real Estate.
In his free time, you can often find Stephen socializing with his friends, going to the beach, playing a variety of sports, and reading outside on the white chairs.
Within FIJI, he has contributed to the chapter by serving on the Brotherhood and Risk Management Committees, as well as taking initiative to plan and run our annual Thanksgiving dinner.
When we asked Stephen what made him join FIJI, and what the fraternity means to him, here’s what he had to say:
“Being from Toronto, I knew the sacrifice I made coming to UBC—moving far away from my friends and family. Immediately upon arriving at UBC, I knew I didn’t want my time at university to be defined purely as a varsity student-athlete. When I first came to FIJI, I had no idea what a fraternity was or what it meant, but I instantly knew I had found a group of like-minded individuals I wanted to spend these precious years with. Since then, these friendships have turned into lifelong bonds that are not for college days alone.
Through hardship and achievements, these guys have always been by my side, pushing me to be the best version of myself. Whether that’s in the classroom, on the field, or professionally, this place has taught me the importance of persistence—something I will carry for the rest of my life. If it were not for FIJI, I would not be who I am today.”
