Big change for some temporary workers already in Canada.

IRCC has announced a new temporary measure allowing eligible work permit holders to study for up to six months without a study permit, making it easier to pursue short-term education, training or licensing while continuing to work.

The measure is in effect until December 31, 2027. Eligible workers may study for up to six months or until their work permit expires, whichever comes first. Full-time studies will still require a study permit.

The change is intended to help workers already in Canada develop in-demand skills and address labour gaps in key sectors.
