This Nurse Practitioner Week, we’re highlighting Alex Jude, a UBC NP student completing her training in Surrey and deeply committed to the region she hopes to serve long-term.

The Surrey Memorial Hospital Campus is becoming a key training hub for future Nurse Practitioners providing clinical experiences and classroom learning right where primary care providers are needed most. UBC’s Nurse Practitioner program delivers this training onsite, strengthening the primary care pipeline for families across the South Fraser.

With more than a decade of nursing experience in Surrey, Alex has seen firsthand the pressures local families face and the challenges in accessing consistent primary care.

"Becoming an NP offers an opportunity to bridge those gaps, allowing me to combine advanced clinical decision-making with the holistic and relational approach that is foundational to nursing. My goal is to be a trusted provider who understands and reflects the region I serve." - Alex Jude

Nurse Practitioners are vital to meeting Surrey and the South Fraser’s growing health care needs. As our population rapidly expands, NPs are helping improve access, reduce wait times, and deliver essential primary care close to home. Thank you to our amazing NPs.
