UVic History Department The Department of History at the University of Victoria and Ph.D. degrees. Specialists cover periods from the Middle Ages to the present.

The Department of History at the University of Victoria consists of 34 regular faculty, ten adjunct faculty, and sessional instructors. The department offers a rich variety of undergraduate courses at the introductory and advanced levels, as well as programs leading to M.A. The main geographical areas of instruction, supervision and research are American, Asian, British, Canadian, European, and World history.

Dr. Virdi is an Associate Professor of History whose work encompasses disability in the history of science, technology, and medicine, with an interest in how people designed, modified, or adapted technologies as a radical resistance against medical perceptions of disability. She is also Director of the Critical Humanities Commons.
