A note from our Head Gardener, Linda:

“For several years I have been teaching an introduction to growing food to our full-time students. They look after a garden bed in the Lower Field Food Growing Hub, and they grow what they like to eat!

West Coast Seeds kindly donates seeds every year to our food-growing gardens.
The students chose which veggies to enter, looking for uniformity, size and condition.

Our Level 2 students are getting hands-on with the theory and principles of pruning!

This course explores when to prune, how to make different types of cuts, and how pruning influences the landscape. Students are also learning how these principles apply to many of the common trees and shrubs found throughout Greater Victoria.
