Windsor Law is helping shape the future of AI and robotics policy on a global scale. 🌎⚖️

Following last year’s We Robot conference — one of North America’s leading interdisciplinary gatherings on robotics, AI law and policy chaired by Professor Kristen Thomasen — Windsor Law faculty have contributed to the first-ever peer-reviewed special issue to emerge from the conference series.

Published in the Canadian Journal of Law and Technology CanLII, the issue brings together legal scholars, engineers, medical professionals and international experts to tackle some of today’s biggest questions around AI governance, accountability, bias, surveillance and human rights.

Vivian Ntiri’s legacy continues to open doors. ⚖️💙

A Windsor Law alumna (Dual JD ’17), Vivian was more than a lawyer. She was a mentor, community builder, and a source of light to those around her.

Guided by a deep belief in the power of education and lifting others, she built a life defined by curiosity, resilience, and purpose, leaving a lasting impact on the Windsor Law community and beyond.

Through the Vivian Ntiri Memorial Scholarship, her legacy lives on, supporting students who embody her values of self-belief, community, and connection to their roots.

In its first month alone, the scholarship has raised over $10,000, a testament to the incredible community she has built.

Her story is a powerful reminder that the impact we have on others can last for generations.

Friends and family are also organizing a fundraising run and walk on June 27 at Downsview Park in Toronto — a place Vivian loved. We hope you will join us to celebrate her legacy.

For Windsor Law students, understanding access to justice goes beyond the classroom. ⚖️

Through a recent experiential learning visit to Aamjiwnaang First Nation, students in the Access to Justice course explored the legal, environmental, and human impacts of industrial activity in the area known as “Chemical Valley.”

Guided by legal experts, advocates, and community members, students examined the complexities of environmental regulation, jurisdiction, and Indigenous rights — while hearing firsthand how these issues affect daily life within the community. 🧡

💬 For first-year law student Brandon Amaya, the experience was a powerful reminder of the role lawyers play in advancing justice and accountability.

Opportunities like this are central to Windsor Law’s approach — connecting legal education with real-world challenges and preparing students to become thoughtful, informed advocates.
