On Friday, May 31, the Windsor Endowment for the Arts presented the Community Arts Infrastructure Grant to The Creative Community Experience to Professor Alice Nelson, and our Drama in Education grad Maggie Pinsonnault was on hand to accept the award on her behalf.

The Creative Community Experience Project (8-week dramatic art workshop series) is led by Theatre Artist and SoDA Faculty member, Alice Nelson, in partnership with Community Living Windsor. The grant funds are being used to create opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to unleash their creativity and develop original work through a variety of theatre styles.

Congratulations to Alice and all the award and grant recipients!

Hey SMArtists! The first SMArt Masterclass has arrived! Join us for our Drama Masterclass with Lionel Walsh starting this upcoming Monday! The 4-session Drama Masterclass will deploy imagination and creativity to teach students in science, engineering, social science, and the arts effective communication skills that they can apply in their respective fields. Students will learn concepts of non-verbal communication and put them into practice through a series of short acting exercises. This masterclass will be interactive and will focus on the joy of communication via body language, speaking, movement, and the experiential. Participants should come in comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and soft-soled shoes with a grip. No drama or theatre experience is necessary! Registration is free!
