This Nursing Week, I took the time to remember who I do this for. We all come from different walks of life, and many First Nations people like myself face unique barriers on the journey into healthcare. Despite those challenges, we continue striving for change for ourselves and our communities.

These people in my life have shaped my nursing journey from high school to where I am today, and I carry their support with me every step of the way.

Happy Nurses Week, and especially Happy Indigenous Nurses Day. ❤️

As part of World Su***de Prevention Day, Sept 10, 2025, the City of Winnipeg, Winnipeg Su***de Prevention Network and the Canadian Association of Su***de Prevention, held the second annual tree planting event for the Whittier Park Forest of Hope. The theme, Changing the Narrative on Su***de, aims to challenge stigma, highlight resources and provide hope. People were invited to plant trees in memory of families and loved ones affected by su***de. The City of Winnipeg donated trees and staff were helping with the planting.
