Next Friday (March 27 at 12 noon)
Dealing with the Woundedness of our Time:
Trauma Cycles, Civic Stress and the Quest for Peace and Well Being

A Brown Bag Lecture with Steve Rauh, MSW Executive Director, Centre for Families in Transition; Co-Director, David R. Brower, Ronald V. Dellums Institute for Sustainable Policy Studies

When trauma becomes normalized, as it has at every level of our civilization, war becomes inevitable. If well-being was normalized, then we might wonder if peace would become inevitable?

Given today's violence and polarization such a suggestion about normalized peace seems otherworldly, even impractical. Yet most of us dream for a world at peace. Is there a way to understand what has happened to us that can make that dream into a practical task? Can we move beyond the horrors, the pain and the cycles of trauma to a world of post trauma growth?

This presentation will explore how understanding our inherent psychological traits and the human trauma experience shapes our shared social narratives of either harm and civic abuse or well-being.

In-person @ St. Paul’s College (Room 225) on online via Zoom registration:

TONIGHT (WED) - 7 PM
Embracing Our Shared Humanity
Personhood, Diversity, and the Path to Peace

In our interconnected world, the concept of personhood transcends individual identity, encompassing the collective experiences and narratives that bind us. How then do we embrace this commitment for the sake of opening pathways toward peace, justice, and healing?

The 2026 MLT Aikins St. Paul’s College University Affiliation Lecture
Dr. Lemuel Watson
Senior Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice Provost of Community Engagement, and Professor of Leadership and Change, Antioch University

Tuesday, March 4, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Fr. Jensen SJ Theatre (Room 100) St. Paul’s College

Dr. Watson argues that central to this pathway is the profound relationship between truth and trust. To build authentic trust -within our own selves, our communities, and across societies - we must courageously confront our collective historical narratives as they occurred. This means neither omitting nor sanitizing difficult truths but looking at them directly in the face with honesty and integrity. Dr. Watson’s discourse aims to inspire a collective commitment to nurturing a world where personhood is honored, diversity is celebrated, and peace is actively pursued.
