Jensen Huang, the visionary co-founder and CEO of NVIDIA, used his determination and forward-thinking mindset to transform the company into a worldwide powerhouse in artificial intelligence and graphics technology.
Born in Taiwan in 1963, Huang moved to the United States as a child and went on to study engineering at Oregon State University and Stanford University. In 1993, he co-founded NVIDIA with an ambitious goal of changing the future of computing through graphics technology. Early in the company's journey, he recognized that GPUs could serve purposes far beyond gaming, including scientific research, data centers, and artificial intelligence. His commitment to investing in research and development during challenging economic periods, including the 2008 recession, helped position NVIDIA for future growth. A 2009 interview that later resurfaced showed his early confidence in GPU-powered computing, a vision that contributed to NVIDIA reaching a $5 trillion valuation in 2025.
Huang's leadership combines deep technical knowledge with emotional intelligence. He often credits his mother, who taught him English despite not speaking it herself, for helping him develop a mindset centered on asking, "How hard can it be?" This attitude continues to influence his approach to innovation and encourages teams to tackle difficult challenges. He is also known for his humble personality and collaborative relationships, including sharing hotpot meals with industry leaders such as TSMC's CEO.
Under Huang's leadership, NVIDIA has become one of the defining companies of the AI revolution. Its technology supports everything from autonomous vehicles to generative AI models, demonstrating how long-term thinking, bold investments, and a willingness to embrace emerging opportunities can reshape an entire industry.
