MIC in brief:


The Master of Advanced Studies in Intercultural Communication (MIC) is a part-time postgraduate program for professionals engaged in managing operational or strategic situations in a multicultural context and in managing multicultural human resources. Founded in 2004, MIC is the only academic program in Intercultural Communication of its kind in Europe. This Master's program equip

s participants with the means to deal successfully with multicultural issues and opportunities at the professional, public, and personal levels. The MIC program's structure (9 weeks of courses distributed over 18 months) allows participants to pursue their professional activity.

4 diverse locations: Lugano, Locarno Film Festival, Lausanne, Fez (Morrocco) and Bangkok (Thailand). An international faculty of over 50 professors and guest speakers from renowned universities, institutions and organizations around the world guarantees academic excellence to the program and ensures its multidisciplinary and multicultural orientation. Participants coming from all over the world contribute to creating a truly intercultural experience, where cognitive and emotional aspects play their part, too.

INFORMATION - COVID-19: CAS on Migration and Diversity starting March 2021. Application are open

Due to the current covid-19 pandemic, the MAS program will not take place in 2020. Instead, we have revised our CAS On Migration and Diversity starting March 2021. Our expert faculty will present different perspectives on causes and challenges of migration and diversity. While we will stay in Switzerland, our minds will travel globally.

We would like to announce the second event of a series named "Progettare l'equità nella salute: popolazioni vulnerabili e rispetto dei loro diritti" organized by the Regional Hospital in Mendrisio, Switzerland.
This time the topic will be: "Vulnerabilità psico-sociale: dalla valutazione all'azione durante il percorso migratorio".
The talk will be in Italian, followed by a discussion and apéro.

When: Wednesday, 15 January 2020 from 18.00 to 20.00
Where: Auditorium, Regional Hospital in Mendrisio

Congratulations to Zuleika Schwarz for her article on experiences of dark-skinned nurses in Swiss health care institutions!
Zuleika Valeria Schwarz graduated in the USI MIC - Master of Advanced Studies in Intercultural... . In addition to her work as a dipl. Physiotherapist in public and private institutions of German and French Switzerland, she also worked for NGOs in acute care for refugees outside Switzerland. Her master thesis "Have you ever been black since you always know how it feels? Perceived racist discrimination of nurses of color in Swiss health care institutions" was been presented during the last diploma ceremony of MIC8. "(2019).
