💜 In the House of the Señor 💜
Robes and brotherhoods of the Señor of the Milagros in the world

We are thrilled to share the new page dedicated to "In the House of the Señor", an international and modular exhibition programme created to narrate one of Peru’s most profound spiritual, visual and communal expressions: the devotion to the Señor de los Milagros and its purple habit.

The exhibition offers a historical, iconographic and anthropological interpretation of the cult, capable of showing not only the power of the image, but also the ritual, physical and communal universe that underpins it: the robes, the brotherhoods, the procession, the miracles, the singing, the incense, the colours, the flavours, the memory and the hope.

The UNESCO Chair of Università della Svizzera italiana collaborates on this project with the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores del Perú, APUS Graph Ediciones, the UNESCO Chair - University of Genoa, and the Museo della Grafica of the Università di Pisa.

The exhibition is conceived as an itinerant and modular initiative, capable of travelling to different cities around the world and bringing together research, heritage, cultural diplomacy and community.

🌿🍃 Sagra delle erbacce – Mendrisio

A beautiful moment at the Sagra delle erbacce , where knowledge, seasonal practices, and community life come together around the landscape.

The chair is glad to welcome Antonio Fossati as new collaborator of the Secretour EU Project, and to greet Daniela, already engaged as part of the Network of common interest: https://secretourproject.eu/network/testimonials
Their presence strengthens a growing constellation of actors rooted in place, contributing to the shared care of territory and heritage.

Events like this remind us that biodiversity is not only ecological—it is also cultural, expressed through food, gestures, and collective memory.

🌿📻📺 Il ritorno del Bosco – a story across voices and landscapes

Our sincere thanks to Lara Montagna, Anna Picco Schwendener and Radiotelevisione svizzera (RSI)for continuing to follow Il ritorno del Bosco through different perspectives and formats:

Monte San Salvatore – Montagne che uniscono (Radio)

These features give space to an evolving process within the Secretour EU Projectr project, where the community of Morcote and the Muchik community of Santa Catalina de Chongoyape (ACP Chaparrí) and the Réserve Écologique de Chaparri already act as Heritage Communities and Networks of Common Interest.

Across Alpine and Amazonian contexts, the forest becomes a shared ground of action: regeneration, knowledge exchange, and mutual support take form through concrete initiatives, including the Move for Charity fundraiser work, https://www.instagram.com/move_for_charity/, sustaining habitat reconstitution and livelihoods.

Through these voices, a broader narrative emerges—one in which mountains and forests are not boundaries, but connections.

🌿📺 Il ritorno del Bosco hosted at Casa Svizzera (RSI)

Our sincere thanks to Radiotelevisione svizzera (RSI) – Casa Svizzera for featuring Il ritorno del Bosco, bringing visibility to a story that continues to grow.

The interview reflects an ongoing process within Secretour EU Project, where the community of Morcote - https://www.instagram.com/morcote__official/ and the Muchik community of Santa Catalina de Chongoyape and Réserve Écologique de Chaparri already act as Heritage Communities within Networks of Common Interest—connected through shared values of landscape care, forest regeneration, and reciprocal learning.

These take form through concrete actions, made possible by the Move for Charity fundraiser work, https://www.instagram.com/move_for_charity/, which supports habitat restauration and indigenous initiatives, reinforcing a living bridge between intangible Heritage elements.

SECreTOUR continues a developing narrative—linking our previous updates and showing how collaboration evolves step by step, from awareness to action.

Following the visit to Cima Norma in the Blenio Valley and the lecture by Dr. Quirino Olivera on the origins of cacao, students from USI and CSIA presented their project proposals to Mazdak Faiznia and Abouzar Rahmani of Food Young Lab https://foodyoung.com/

The presentations explored how the Cima Norma vision—bridging heritage, chocolate, hospitality, and regional development—can be translated into concrete strategies and experiences.

Working across themes such as: cultural and territorial storytelling, chocolate as heritage and visitor experience design, students developed proposals addressing both day visitors and immersive stays, while reflecting the dual identity of Cima Norma: rooted in Blenio tradition and open to international perspectives.

Within the framework of the Secretour EU Project the municipality of Morcote https://www.visitmorcote.ch hosted a dedicated workshop for tourist guides, exploring new interpretative narratives for Monte San Giorgio as a living cultural landscape.

The session introduced an evolving perspective: moving beyond the mountain as a purely geological or archaeological site, toward understanding it as a “sacred mountain” , shaped by layers of ecological processes, cultural practices and collective memory.
Sophie Ambroise and Cinzia Capalbo of Officina del Paesaggio developed a profound and new reading of the Garden of Light of Parco Scherrer , podcasted here: https://www.rsi.ch/rete-due/programmi/cultura/alphaville/Il-giardino-della-luce--3165966.html

Guides were invited to engage with this narrative transformation through new interpretative routes, storytelling approaches, and visitor experience design, where:

🌿 the landscape is read as a biocultural system
⛰ heritage emerges from the interaction between nature and human presence
✨ the notion of the sacred is understood as a continuum between past and present

The Chair is proud to host a lecture by Dr. Quirino Olivera, archaeologist and director of the Huaca Montegrande Archaeological Project in Peru.

Dr. Olivera presented the research conducted at Huaca Montegrande, in the Peruvian Amazonia, where archaeological investigations have revealed some of the oldest evidence of cacao use and domestication known to date. These findings contribute significantly to understanding the deep cultural history of cacao in South America and its role in early ritual, agricultural, and social systems.

The event was enriched by the participation of the Embajada del Perú en Suiza y en Liechtenstein, represented by Carla Vaccarella, highlighting the importance of international cultural cooperation in promoting research and knowledge about the origins of one of the world’s most emblematic crops.

Through initiatives like this, the UNESCO Chair continues to foster dialogue between scientific research, cultural heritage, and global food traditions.

As part of the Secretour EU Project, students from CSIA - Centro Scolastico per le Industrie Artistiche recently participated in a fieldwork session at Ca’ Stella on Monte San Giorgio, exploring the role of plants in shaping the imagery and cultural meaning of heritage landscapes.

Through this fieldwork experience, students were invited to reflect on how natural elements, cultural practices, and creative representation interact in the construction of heritage landscapes. Special contributions were offered by Anna Picco-Schwendener and by Quirino Olivera , who joined the group to present the story of the cocoa plant and its transformation into a powerful cultural symbol. Thank you to Mariana Minke and Laura Mengani of CSIA, Marco Brughera of the Municipality of Morcote https://www.visitmorcote.ch/ and to Masha Pacolli of Swiss Diamond Boutique Hotel La Romantica,
