ℹ️ Dr. Triantafyllos Stylianopoulos is the first researcher in Cyprus and among the few in Europe to secure all three highly competitive European Research Council (ERC) grants: Starting, Consolidator, and Advanced Grant. Last month, he successfully obtained Cyprus' first ERC Advanced Grant in 11 years, securing €2.5 million in funding for his project titled "Overcoming Mechanically Induced Resistance to Chemo-Immunotherapy in Pancreatic Cancer" (“MechanoResistance”), which is dedicated to enhancing pancreatic cancer treatment. Over the past decade, he has secured over €10 million in research funding from esteemed entities such as the European Commission and the European Research Council. He has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Y.C. Fung Early Career Award by the Bioengineering Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers as the best young researcher in Bioengineering in USA (2016), the Most Cited Paper Award (2014) and the Best Paper Award (2019) by the USA Biomedical Engineering Society, and recently the UNESCO - Equatorial Guinea International Award for Research in the Life Sciences (2024). His efforts towards research commercialization have resulted in the recent acquisition of three patents and a license agreement with Materia Therapeutics (NV, USA).
