MA & PhD programmes in Literature, Linguistics & Translation

The Department of English Studies at the University of Cyprus offers the undergraduate degree programme BA in English Language and Literature, as well as a range of Minor Programmes in English Literature, English Linguistics and American Studies. The Department also participates in the Interdepartmental Minor Programme in Gender Studies and the interdisciplinary Programme in Modern Languages and E

uropean Studies offered by the Department of French Studies and Modern Languages. At postgraduate level, the Department of English Studies offers:

an MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL),
an MA in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics,
an MA in English Literature and Comparative Cultural Studies, and
research PhD degrees in Linguistics, Literature and Translation Studies
(in the areas of expertise of our supervising faculty members). The Department of English Studies has strong links with foreign universities and international institutions to promote research, collaboration and exchange of faculty and students.

“MELUSINE” is a performance by Marilena Zackheos that weaves together poetic fragments, ecological data, and mythic narrative in order to explore hydrological, colonial, and gendered control. This is a parallel event for the art exhibition titled "Fluid Persistence" currently on show at Nicosia Municipal Arts Center (NiMAC). The performance will take place on 27 May, 2026 at 18:00 at NiMAC.
