Our PhD student Katarína has participated in the Mars analog mission AMADEE-24 as Remote Science Support (RSS)! 👩🔬
🧑🚀The AMADEE mission are analog Mars mission conducted by the Austrian Space Forum (Österreichisches Weltraum Forum, OeWF)🇦🇹. The mission aims to simulate various aspects of human Mars exploration on Earth, providing valuable insights into the challenges and requirements for future manned missions to Mars.
AMADEE missions typically involve conducting experiments related to life support systems, communication technologies, habitat design, rover operations, and more. These missions often take place in Mars-like environments on Earth, such as deserts or volcanic regions🌋, where conditions are harsh and isolated, resembling some aspects of the Martian surface. This mission is happening in Armenia!🇦🇲
Participants in the AMADEE missions include scientists👨🔬, engineers🧑🔧, and researchers from various disciplines, collaborating to advance our understanding of the technical, physiological, and psychological challenges associated with human space exploration. These missions serve as valuable analogs for planning and preparing for future crewed missions to Mars.
Katarína, as part of RSS was helping with Staying Alive experiment coordinating, communicating with P*s, troubleshooting, and also doing RSS record of every conducted experiment during the mission.
During one week in Mission Support Center (MSC), she gained a wealth of experience, contacts, and valuable insights that will help her in preparing for real space missions, which we, as the SpaceAgriTechnologies group, are planing and preparing.
