🟡 Iwona Janicka's new paper, called "Ecofeminist Grand Narratives: Cohabitability with More-than-Human Worlds" sketches key concepts and parameters of the ecological grand narratives emerging in contemporary ecofeminist thought. So doing, it demonstrates how ecofeminists allow us to rethink our position of being human on the planet and conceive of a more-than-human cohabitability on the grandest – and most effective – scale.

The talk offered an overview of LLMs from both an engineering and a scientific perspective, with the aim of clarifying the ontological status of the underlying algorithm.

🩺How is AI changing diagnostics and patient care?
🩺What ethical dilemmas do modern technologies bring to hospitals?
🩺And can bioethics keep pace with rapid technological developments?

In episode 9 of the Zelený drát podcast, we speak with Dierckxsens from Research Lab for Bioethics (IRLaB), Filosofický ústav Akademie věd České republiky.
The interview addresses topics of patient autonomy, privacy, and health data. We also discuss the loss of human contact in medicine and issues in healthcare for transgender persons. Geoffrey Dierckxsens also introduces the Care project and research of a new breakthrough technology that uses radio frequencies to monitor patients in palliative care at home.

🩺Jaká etická dilemata přinášejí moderní technologie do nemocnic?
🩺A dokáže bioetika držet krok s rychlým technologickým vývojem?
V 9. epizodě podcastu Zelený drát si povídáme s Geoffreym Dierckxsensem z Mezioborové výzkumné laboratoře pro bioetiku (IRLaB), při Filosofickém ústavu AV ČR.

👉Get to know more about Alexis Shotwell and Michael Marder, who will in this year' s Climate Dialogues discuss how we can reconceptualize solidarity in a way that can help us act in a world of climate crisis, by including non-human living nature into the concept.

"I’m a feminist theorist of relationality, which means that I think it matters that we’re part of the world and connected with each other. Pretty much all of my work is trying to understand the ethical and political implications of starting from this idea, though topically I come at it from a number of different directions," says Alexis Shotwell. 💬We sincerely invite you to this year's Climate Dialogues!

💬What is solidarity? It can mean that we share an experience of oppression, a workplace, or a political position. But as climate crisis intensifies, we need to add more-than-human lives into this concept, such as animals, rivers or ecosystems.

In a public dialogue, Michael Marder and Alexis Shotwell, will probe the concept of ecological solidarities beyond moral exhortation and individual responsibility. The main question of this public talk will be what it means to think and act in solidarity with beings that, when approached from the anthropocentric perspective, seem neither to speak nor to reciprocate, and how attention to unevenly distributed vulnerability reshapes ethical and political responsibility.

👉Michael Marder is an Ikerbasque Research Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of the Basque Country. His work spans the fields of environmental philosophy and ecological thought, political theory, and phenomenology.

👉Alexis Shotwell is Professor at Carleton University. Her academic work addresses impurity, environmental justice, racial formation, disability, unspeakable and unspoken knowledge, sexuality, gender, and political transformation.

🤖 Může být robot morální bytostí? Má právo odmítnout rozkaz? A proč děti často vnímají roboty jako „živější“ než dospělí?

Hostem dílu č. 8 našeho podcastu Zelený drát je Robin Kopecký ze CETE-P (Filosofický ústav Akademie věd České republiky, který se věnuje vztahu člověka, technologií a umělé inteligence.

V rozhovoru otevírá zásadní otázky současnosti:
❓ Jak lidé přemýšlí o robotech a jaké na ně mají morální požadavky?
❓ Proč máme tendenci připisovat AI emoce a mysl?
❓ Kde leží hranice mezi užitečným nástrojem a nebezpečnou závislostí?

Dozvíte se také, proč se lidé bojí humanoidních robotů, co je fenomén „uncanny valley“ (tísnivé údolí) nebo proč děti věří robotům více než dospělí. Mluvíme také o tom, zda by AI měla rozhodovat o životě a smrti či jak AI mění vzdělávání a školství.

🤖 Can robot be a moral being? Does it have the right to disobey an order? And why do children often perceive robots as “more alive” than adults do? The guest on episode 8 of the Zelený drát podcast is Robin Kopecký from CETE-P (Institute of Philosophy at the Czech Academy of Sciences), who studies the relationship between humans, technology, and artificial intelligence.

We will explore how caring relations are conceptualized and enacted across these domains, and how limited care resources might be allocated among diverse beings and systems.

Tyto otázky jsou středobodem letošní vlajkové konference CETE-P s názvem "Caring for Non-Humans" ("Péče o ne-lidské bytosti"). Na konferenci budeme zkoumat péči ve vztahu ke zvířatům, životnímu prostředí a umělé inteligenci. Bude nás zajímat, jak jsou pečující vztahy pojímány a realizovány v těchto oblastech a jak lze omezené zdroje péče rozdělit mezi různorodé bytosti a systémy.
