The Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain and the Czech Technical University in Prague, present in Prague the photographic exhibition Brasília, The Dream of Juscelino Kubitschek, presented by photographer-artist Juan Carlos Vega and curated by Marco Maio. The exhibition commemorates Juscelino Kubitschek, of Czech origin, whose vision made possible the project that transformed the Brazilian territory and shaped a new capital.
Through the images, Vega explores the axes, perspectives, and formal decisions that define Brasília’s identity, revealing its character as a city conceived for the future. The photographs connect architecture with lived experience: lines and voids build the setting, while the presence of the body—moving and relating to space—introduces an emotional dimension to how the work is read. In this way, beyond a purely documentary record, the artistic proposal offers a new visual language in which the city is perceived as a living rhythm.
The exhibition is presented within the framework of Ibero-American Week in Prague, reaffirming cultural dialogue through art and memory. As a keepsake of the visit, it invites the public to return to the lasting imprint of a city born from a collective dream: an idea made tangible in stone, light, and space, and which continues to inspire new ways of thinking about architecture, identity, and hope. The exhibition was shown in Brazil, at the Instituto Cervantes in Brasília, within the framework of “Brasília, Ibero-American Capital of Culture 2022”, and represents an important milestone commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Brazilian Federal Senate in December 2024, with support from the Embassy of Spain in Brazil. In July 2025, the exhibition was presented in Madrid to commemorate the 65th anniversary of Brasília, supported by the Embassy of Brazil in Spain and the Instituto Guimarães Rosa, serving as a bridge for international cultural dialogue.
