Visit from Nova College 🇳🇱

Every year, we welcome a group of students from Nova College, who visit ARCHIP together with their teachers.

During their stay last week, the students attended a short presentation about the school and then spent most of their time in the studios – observing reviews, consultations, and everyday life at ARCHIP.

A chance to experience the school directly and see how teaching and studio work come together!

Join us for a lecture and discussion with Ecem Nazlı Üçok, sociologist at Charles University and ARCHIP.
💬 “Rather than viewing migration as a rupture or loss, the talk approaches exile as a generative space of resistance and prefiguration where political identities, practices and imaginaries are reshaped. Drawing on feminist and decolonial approaches, it considers ethnography as a relational practice shaped by positionality, emotional labour and power relations.”

Architectural Spotlight 🔦

Antonín Marek Library, Turnov

A new municipal library in Turnov, designed by A69 – architekti, will open to the public after the summer. The building draws inspiration from the sandstone landscapes of the Bohemian Paradise – rock massifs, fissures, and narrow vertical spaces.

We learn from the best 😎

This March, ARCHIP students met architects 𝗝𝗮𝗸𝗼𝗯 𝗦𝘁𝗿ø𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗻-𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗻 from Henning Larsen and 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗵 from MVRDV, both studios are currently working on major projects in Prague - the new Main Railway Station and the expansion of Terminal 1 at Václav Havel Airport.

The two unique workshops explored the question of AI and its meaningful integration into the architectural process.

As Rector Regina Loukotová puts it:
💬 “It is essential for our students to be in direct contact with the people who are truly shaping architecture in Europe and the Czech Republic today.”

📍 Pardubice

ARCHIP students spent three days in Pardubice working on the future of the city’s riverbanks, in collaboration with the city.

The focus was on how the banks of the Labe and Chrudimka rivers can be better used, protected, and opened up to everyday life. The workshop combined site visits and group work, with 12 student teams developing proposals that can serve as inspiration for the future development of the riverfront.

The final presentations will take place tomorrow at ARCHIP, with representatives of the city of Pardubice and architect Tomáš Jiránek. 👏
