The meeting of directors of academic, special and public libraries of Latvia was held on May 6 and 7. These two days confirmed the importance of professional meetings, exchange of experience and joint discussions on current issues in the library sector.

A specific section of presentations was devoted to "NATIONAL LIBRARY OF LATVIA SUPPORT PROJECTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE LIBRARY NETWORK". As one of such NEDLib project was presented by Vita Juraga from LNB Kompetenču attīstības centrs and key-librarian Iluta Stanga from Madonas novada bibliotēka.

A multiplier event took place in Ventspils, Latvia this week. The key-librarian Vita writes about the event:
"On May 12, the Ventspils Library Regional Training Centre gathered school librarians and other interested parties for the final project presentation event of the Erasmus+ strategic partnership project “Digital Competences and Information Literacy for Librarians”.
The participants of the project presentation event appreciated that Agnese Pašāne, Head of the Competence Centre of the National Library of Latvia (LNB Kompetenču attīstības centrs) – the Latvian representative of the project management team – joined the online conversation. Agnese Pašāne introduced the attendees to the progress of the project, highlighting the main challenges and the experience gained.
In turn, Vita Ozola, Head of the Ventspils Library Regional Training Centre, a member of the project working group, shared her experience and introduced the developed methodological materials. The participants of the event recognized that the prepared resources in the field of media literacy and information literacy will also be valuable tools in the work of school libraries."

The NEDLib project’s summer school in Almada – ‘Digital competence and information literacy for librarians’ – is about to begin.
First thing in the morning, we met with participants from Bulgaria, Greece, Latvia, Romania and Portugal to present the programme and answer all their questions. We wish everyone a safe journey and a pleasant stay. We would like to thank Almada Municipal Library for hosting and organising the event, and our key librarians: Manuela Barreto Nunes, for facilitating the sessions, and António Dôres, Felisbela Brás and Vera Correia, for helping to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Participants of the NEDLib Summer School 2026 had the opportunity to visit one of Romania’s most valuable cultural and documentary heritage institutions - the Library of the Holy Synod.

The visit offered librarians and international specialists an inspiring journey into the world of historical collections, manuscripts, and cultural heritage carefully preserved by this remarkable institution, representative of Romanian culture and spirituality. The meeting also created an excellent opportunity for professional dialogue, exchange of good practices, and reflection on the essential role of libraries in preserving cultural memory and promoting knowledge.

A multiplier event took place in Latvia last week. The key-librarian Maruta writes about the event:

"I organized the event for my colleagues as a part of methodical day seminar.

I told them about the project and the workshop we had in Bulgaria, the activities of each day. Using the available lecture materials for each day, I shared information from the slides, the topics that were discussed each day.

The feedback after the seminar was positive. They even asked for the presentation materials. Additional questions were asked, especially about National Library of Bulgaria. Can anyone enter there, is there a fee, etc.

The seminar was held on the Zoom platform"
