The Hertie School is a private university based in Berlin, accredited by the State and the German Science Council. Interdisciplinary and practice-oriented teaching, first-class research and an extensive international network set the Hertie School apart and position it as an ambassador of good governance, characterised by public debate and engagement. The School was founded at the end of 2003 as a project of the Hertie Foundation, which remains its major partner.

Today, we mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women by celebrating Hertie alumna Ba Linh Le, a woman using data and technology to protect those at risk.

As Chief Data Officer of Frontline, she helps build AI tools that make interventions faster and more accurate for emergency workers.

🎓 Meet Dr Alexandra Ioan - PhD’18 and Master of Public Policy’ 14 alumna of the Hertie School

Today, she’s making an impact as Senior Expert for Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning at CONCORDIA Social Projects in Vienna. Alexandra shares that one of the most cherished mentors she ever met at Hertie was introduced to her during a guest lecture and went on to become her adviser throughout her Hertie journey.

Meet Marija Golubeva, the policy analyst and former Latvian Minister of the Interior, who is this year’s Henrik Enderlein Fellow!

Marija joined the Hertie School as part of the Henrik Enderlein Fellowship, bringing a career that spans think tank work, academia, and policymaking. As a Henrik Enderlein Fellow, she is collaborating with our Centre for International Security to explore Europe’s responses to hybrid threats. She is also teaching in courses offered by our Executive Education programme.

We sat down with Marija to discuss how European countries should respond to external threats, an Executive Education course she’s teaching, and why it’s vital to integrate practical knowledge into the classroom.
