Nachhaltigkeit ist für uns kein Status quo, sondern ein wachsender Anspruch, an dem wir täglich arbeiten.
So tragen wir schon seit gut 4 Jahren eine Idee mit uns herum, die wir jetzt endlich konkret anpacken. Wir möchten ein Elastomer entwickeln, welches die guten Eigenschaften von Naturkautschuk hat, aber regional beschafft werden kann. Dabei denken wir an die Verwendung von Abfällen. Es ist komplex, ja, aber nicht unmöglich. Es gibt verteilt auf der Welt konkrete Ansätze und Umsetzungen, aber unseres Wissens nicht in der Form, in der wir sie für unsere elastischen Bänder benötigen: nämlich sehr dünne, sehr dehnbare elastische Fäden.
Mit haben wir einen Partner gefunden, der uns auf Forschungsebene unterstützt, unsere Idee in die Umsetzung zu bringen. Gestern durften wir dazu unsere Open Innovation Challenge im FUHUB im Rahmen der vor Studierenden, Doktor:innen, Professor:innen, Start-ups und Industrievertretende präsentieren.

For us, sustainability is not the status quo, but a growing aspiration that we work towards every day.
For a good four years now, we have been carrying around an idea that we are now tackling in concrete terms. We want to develop an elastomer that has the good properties of natural rubber but can be sourced regionally. We are thinking about using waste materials. It is complex, yes, but not impossible. There are concrete approaches and implementations worldwide, but to our knowledge not in the form we need for our elastic bands: namely, very thin, very stretchy elastic threads.
In , we have found a partner who supports us at the research level in turning our idea into reality. Yesterday, we had the opportunity to present our Open Innovation Challenge at as part of to students, doctoral candidates, professors, start-ups and industry representatives.
