Cultural Diversity Day at UE Berlin was a beautiful reminder of what makes our campus community so special. 🌍

From traditional food and music to dance performances, cultural outfits, and shared stories, the campus came alive with energy, creativity, and connection. Every corner of the event reflected the diversity, openness, and spirit that students bring to UE every day.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated, performed, cooked, represented their culture, and helped create such a welcoming and unforgettable atmosphere. Your passion and enthusiasm made this celebration truly one of a kind.

And a big shoutout to everyone involved in organising this amazing celebration for the community! 👏

Here’s to more moments of connection, celebration, and community. 💛

How does a UE alum from Iserlohn end up travelling the world for Porsche?

Bachelor students in the business courses of Prof. Dr. Thomas Burgartz and Christina I. Muzzu had the chance to find out when our very own Rouven Marquardt visited his alma mater recently to share his story.

How does Customer Relationship Management play out in the automotive industry, from OEM to retail?
How and why is the Customer Journey evolving, and how can firms adapt to current macroenvironmental forces?
What is it like to work in Taiwan compared to Germany?
What key takeaways have emerged from over 15 years of experience in the industry?

We are thrilled and grateful that Rouven shared all these insights and more with our students, including through a case study challenge that had them applying what they learned immediately.

This is what we mean when we say that UE Iserlohn is a “lokales Nest, global vernetzt.”

Thank you, Rouven, from all of us at UE Iserlohn!

Students from our BA Photography & New Media program visited the Reichstag Building, the German federal parliament, together with Professor Michael Danner and took part in a guided tour of the historic building.

More than an architectural landmark, the Reichstag is a place where Germany’s complex democratic history becomes visible, from the traces of war to the Soviet soldiers’ graffiti left after the liberation from National Socialism.

Through observing, photographing, and discussing the space, students reflected on history, media, public representation, and on the role photography can play within democratic societies.

Recently, our Berlin campus hosted Q***r Voices, an immersive event exploring LGBTQIA+ stories across cultures, identities, and lived experiences. The event was organised by UE’s Diversity Officer, Morgan Diakite, in collaboration with NGO NEST, and funded by the European Commission as part of the EU Diversity Voices project.

The day brought together students, guests, and community members for a unique format combining film, dialogue, and exchange. Visitors moved through a curated selection of q***r short films, each offering personal, political, and emotional perspectives.

Throughout the afternoon, community organisations were also present on site, sharing their work and opening up space for conversation, connection, and engagement.

The evening continued with a panel discussion featuring Athina Gendry, Oliver Dougherty, and Orhun Mersin, moderated by Sejean De Jager, focusing on representation, inclusion, and lived experiences within LGBTQIA+ communities.

Big thank you to EU Diversity Voices partners, especially NGO NEST, for their collaboration and support, as well as to everyone who joined us and contributed to the atmosphere of openness and exchange. Special thanks also to our student volunteers, led by Daniela Flores, for their support throughout the event.

Events like this continue to highlight the importance of creating spaces for dialogue, visibility, and community, on campus and beyond.

From the World Press Photo Exhibition 2026 at Willy-Brandt-Haus Berlin, we had the opportunity to speak with UE alumna Chantal Pinzi about her acclaimed project Farīsāt.

The series documents female riders in Morocco challenging tradition and carving out space within the male-dominated practice of tbourida. Through intimate storytelling and powerful imagery, Chantal explores gender, visibility, and resilience.

As a graduate of the BA Photography & New Media programme at the UE Berlin, her work continues to demonstrate the impact of socially engaged photography on a global stage.

We are proud of her journey and excited to share her story. ❤️

Join us for an Artist Talk with Chantal Pinzi on Wednesday, 13.05.26, at the UE Berlin campus.🕑 14:00📍 Room 1.49

Everyone is warmly invited to attend. We look forward to an engaging conversation and insights into professional photographic practice.

An ambitious social media campaign is placing blood donation center stage through a student-led project at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences. In collaboration with the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, students from the Design Management and Visual Communication programs are developing innovative approaches to motivate donors. The goal is to measurably increase blood donations through targeted communication strategies.

The project deliberately goes beyond traditional informational campaigns. Students are creating a distinct identity for the donor community, emphasizing a sense of belonging as a key driver of engagement.

The initiative is embedded in a broader context: hospitals are environments of highly complex communication between patients, nursing staff, and physicians. This is precisely where the collaboration intervenes, using design-driven methods to develop tangible improvements in everyday clinical practice and to highlight the social value of communication.

“It’s essentially a mission impossible, but that’s exactly what makes it compelling: we want to demonstrate that design and communication can do more than inform; they can change behavior and foster community,” says Prof. Christian Meyer zu Ermgassen, Vice Dean for Art & Design and Professor of Illustration at the UE campus in Hamburg.

Lokales Nest, global vernetzt - What does that mean?

To us at UE in Iserlohn, it means that while we offer a cosy local nest to our students, they can enjoy a global network as well, and our recent adventure in Amsterdam is proof.

Nineteen students from the UE Iserlohn campus recently participated in an intensive academic week at , focusing on the development of comprehensive business plans.

Throughout the program, students attended lectures on key topics, including marketing strategies, customer persona development, business modelling and branding, as well as financial planning. The week culminated in a final pitch presentation on Friday morning, during which students showcased their concepts and demonstrated their applied knowledge.

The group represented a diverse range of study programs at Iserlohn and included both German and international students, reflecting the university’s global and interdisciplinary learning environment.

In addition to the academic programme, students had the opportunity to explore the vibrant city of Amsterdam by foot, tram, and boat, while also experiencing its rich and diverse culinary culture.

As participants, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to UE Amsterdam for their warm hospitality and for making this an enriching and memorable experience.
